BVMCL Scholarships for Texas A & M Marines

February 8, 2021

On February 8, 2021 the Brazos Valley Marine Corps League provided four $500 scholarships to deserving Marines at Texas A & M.

The following is a thank you note from one of the scholarship recipients about what it means to him.

Dear Marine Corps League Brazos Valley Det. #1391,

Thank you for allowing me to continue my pursuit of higher education at Texas A&M University. The Marine corps League’s generous scholarship has relieved some of the financial stress accumulated over the COVID-19 pandemic. As a Sergeant of Marines, I’ve learned to adapt and overcome any situation. After serving for 4 years, civilian life became difficult. The chances of me pursuing a college degree grew slim until I received my fellow Marines’ support, which helped me establish a path to Texas A&M University. As a first-generation Marine and college student, it has been a challenging, yet rewarding experience as your organization recognizes me as a recipient of this outstanding scholarship. This semester, I am proud to continue serving my community as a leader in my major as a civil engineering ambassador with a 3.6 GPA and an officer position in the American Society of Civil Engineers. This organization has reminded me that being a Marine is a title that is with me forever, and the brotherhood that has been created, spans over generations of Marines. Its core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment hold true even during these uncertain times. I’m honored to have been allowed to continue my education as a recipient of the Marine Corps League Scholarship.

Once again, Thank you! Semper Fi and Gig'Em!
